Is it that time already?!
Another milestone for my dear friend, and we are all now at an age where we are starting to be relieved to say we have made it! Once again I'm reminded that 10 years have escaped since the last party and my blog is now 20 years old...

Portsmouth – a Grand Day Out
Lyn and I went to Portsmouth and Southsea - where we: wandered about, had coffee at the tennis club by the harbour - more walking along the newly refurbished prom - then a delicious lunch at Viet Quan Cafe which had a splendid atmosphere with lovely people (serving and dining!) - "strongly recommend".
More wandering where we were driven to explore "Ravelin House" which seems a bit worse for wear; it's owned by the University, but is closed ("falling masonry") but I do hope there are plans to repair it. There are references to it on line with splendid and misleading pictures - clearly it used to be open to the public - but I fear (or possibly am grateful) not now.
Finally, after a short shopping interlude, we travelled home from the Harbour station - and how wonderful that you can stand right there and admire Warrior, in the dockyard.
I should mention - the weather was delightfully sunny and breezy all the time we were out - a truly English summer day at the coast - and only when we were travelled home did it cloud over as seen in my picture.

Boxing Day
Wonderful cake from my sister-in-law.
We are saving cutting it until the family visit - and Matilda can take home the amazing decoration.

Merry Christmas
We - or rather I since G has been in favour of it for some time - finally thought we'd had enough of the ritual fight on Christmas Eve trying to put up the tree, and purchased a fake tree.
Thus it looks jolly symmetrical and nice.

This isn’t clutter…
I finally completed the cross stitch embroidery kit that I started in about 1996. It was a Christmas gift from my brother-in-law - he and my sister thought it looked like my life....
In a world where knitting was not welcomed on trans-atlantic flights I always took this kit with me - and although I went to the Americas regularly, I didn't go frequently - and so here we are, some 30 years later.
